Idea 1 - Valentine's Day gift for women: a cute keyring for your girlfriend/wife
A homemade keyring will make a fantastic Valentine’s Day gift idea for your girlfriend or wife. They will keep it with them all day and it will remind her of your love. The keyring doesn’t need any sewing and you can be as creative as you like. Surprise your girlfriend/wife with a Valentine's Day gift that shows her how much she means to you.
Here is a list of materials you will need for a Valentine's Day keyring gift:
Thick fabric scraps (e.g. denim or (vegan) leather).
Scraps of lighter fabric (e.g. cotton, t-shirt – or any lightweight patterned fabric)
Keyring
Rivet press stud
Punch pliers
Baking paper
Double-sided ironing tape/fleece
Iron and ironing board
Paper
Scissors
Pencil
__________
Craft tip:
As an alternative to hem tape, you can stick the fabrics together with textile glue.
__________
Here's how you can make this cute keyring as a Valentine's Day gift:
Firstly, think about how you want your keyring to look, then make a template by drawing the shape on a sheet of paper and cutting it out. In our example, we decided on an arrow pointing to one side (see picture).
Next, cut a piece of the thin (patterned) fabric to size. This should be slightly longer and wider than your finished keyring.
Place the fabric face down on your ironing board, then iron on the hem tape using a medium heat. To avoid the iron sticking, place a piece of baking paper between the iron and the hem tape.
Turn your fabric face-side-up and use a pencil to outline your template on the fabric.
Loosen the band on the hem tape and iron your fabric onto the thicker fabric (e.g. scraps from an old pair of jeans or an old bag).
Cut out your keyring and fold it in the middle.
Place the keyring between the folded fabric and mark a point in the upper third where the rivet should be.
Use a hole punch to make a hole for the rivet (either to screw it in or to fasten it with a hammer). That’s it! It is ready to give to your loved one.

Think about how you want your bracelet to look and lay the beads out in the correct order. If you are not sure which colours your girlfriend or wife likes, then take a look at her wardrobe and see what colours she likes to wear.
Cut the elastic ribbon (approx. 30 cm) and tie a knot at one end. This will prevent your beads from falling off.
Next, string the beads one by one. Check the bracelet on your wrist to see if there are enough beads.
When you are satisfied, you can either tie jewellery clasps to both ends or knot the two ends together. All that is left to do is give this lovely gift to your loved one.
