You will need the following materials:

  • 200 g flour

  • 100 g salt

  • 100 ml water

  • Acrylic paint or watercolour

  • Letter stamps (if you want)

Instructions:

  1. To make the salt dough, mix the flour and salt together. Then add the water and knead the dough until it is smooth. If your dough sticks, you can add a little more flour.

  2. Now roll out your dough on a work surface covered with flour. If you like, you can cut out a large heart or circle for the footprints.

  3. Work with your child to gently press their hands and/or feet into the dough until a visible imprint appears. Add a small hole at the top if you want to hang up your work of art afterwards. You can also press your child's name into the dough with letter stamps or carefully engrave it with a toothpick.

  4. The salt dough needs a few days in a warm place to dry. When it is completely dry, you can paint it with acrylic paint or watercolour.

  • Old glass bottle

  • Acrylic paint

  • Baking powder

  • Paintbrush

  • Sponge

  • Thread

Instructions for the homemade Mother's Day vase:

  1. First clean the inside and outside of your bottle with dish soap and then dry it well.

  2. To get the rough terracotta effect, mix 3 bags of baking soda with approx. 100 g of acrylic paint. Tip: If you want a rougher look, add some more baking powder.

  3. Now coat the glass bottle with your paint mixture. You may need to apply several coats to complete the look. Always allow the bottle to dry completely between layers.

  4. To enhance the terracotta effect, dab on the last layer of colour with a sponge.

  5. To finish, decorate your vase with a ribbon and place a bouquet inside.
