Cashmere is the finest wool in the world and offers unparalleled comfort. To keep it that way, there are a few basic principles that should be observed when washing and caring for cashmere jumpers, ponchos and cardigans.
In general, cashmere garments can be washed. However, they should not be washed too frequently. As a rule of thumb, cashmere should be washed after every fourth wear. Between washes, it’s sufficient to air out your cashmere jumper or cardigan overnight.
Care tip from our expert, Uta Feldmann, Senior Design Manager at C&A: “Cashmere should always be stored flat and folded and never hung, otherwise it can lose its shape.”
To help you enjoy your cashmere garment as long as possible, it’s recommended that you wash it by hand in cold water with a wool detergent. After washing, carefully wring out the excess water, place the cashmere garment flat on a towel to dry and gently pull it back into shape.
Store cashmere correctly
Fine cashmere fibres like it dark and dry. That’s why your cashmere jumper is best stored gently folded in your wardrobe. To protect the fibres even more, you can also store your cashmere jumper in a cotton cover.
To protect the garment against moths, small fabric pouches filled with lavender, cloves, mint and cinnamon are ideal. You can simply place or hang these between your clothes.
