Why are C2C Certified products better?
When you see C2C Certified, you can rest assured the product you’re choosing has been made using safe, healthy materials designed to stay in a perpetual cycle of use and reuse – even when you’re finished with the product.
To achieve this, C2C Certified products are evaluated and optimised for human and environmental health, recyclability or composability, renewable energy use, carbon management, water stewardship and social fairness.
C2C Certified products take nature as an inspiration, where the waste of one system becomes food for another. Products can be similarly designed to anticipate their next use. This means products are considered either biological or technical nutrients--designed to be reused, recycled into new products, or to safely degrade in your compost pile. This approach to product design has wide ranging positive effects: farmers work without hazardous fertilizers and pesticides to grow our Bio Cotton; workers in the production process only work with safe chemicals.
By using renewable energy, offsetting carbon emissions, and cleaning the water used in production, C2C Certified products support both the health of the ecosystems and communities in which they are manufactured and the overall health of our planet. Production facilities represent best practise for social social fairness in their countries.

The launch of our C2C Certified T-Shirts in June 2017 is our first step on a long journey to circular fashion. Learn more about our sustainability efforts in our Global Sustainability Report.
We are looking forward to offering you more C2C Certified products in the near future.
How can you give your T-Shirt its next life?
You donate clothing that can still be worn, so it can be reused again or donated for humanitarian relief. As there are many organizations throughout Europe that collect used clothing and shoes you have the opportunity to support people in need.
In case the clothing your donated cannot be worn, it will be transformed by textile recycling companies into lower-value products such as rags and to a small extent cotton yarn. This is where our partner Fashion for Good is involved.
Via composting at home
C&A’s GOLD Level C2C Certified cotton clothing is safe enough for home composting. This is a unique step forward in C&A’s journey towards a new way of fashioning by providing its customers clothing that is safe enough to return into the biological nutrient cycle.
Make sure: If any modifications to the clothing are made at home with undefined materials, such as dyeing, decals, embroidery or other embellishments, then the clothing should not be composted.
Via Fashion for Good
We partnered with Fashion for Good in order to develop the first globally-marketed GOLD C2C Certified apparel.
Created with an initial grant by founding partner C&A Foundation, Fashion for Good is a joint-industry initiative. It unites apparel producers, retailers, suppliers, non-profit organizations, innovators and funders in the shared ambition of only good and sustainable fashion (learn more on: www.fashionforgood.com). This global partnership is supporting the research and development of chemical recycling of clothing. By sending your old C2C Certified clothing to Fashion for Good, you will be actively supporting pilots to help scale this much-needed technology.
Send your old C2C Certified apparel via post to: Fashion for Good Centre, Rokin 102, 1012 KZ Amsterdam.
