C&A Europe has launched a new down puffer jacket collection, the company’s first such collection that was produced with sustainability in mind and certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). The exciting new collection strengthens C&A’s public commitment to the responsible sourcing of down and feathers. From fall 2016 onwards, all of the down and feathers in C&A’s products will be RDS-certified. The new range will be available in all C&A stores throughout Europe and online.
In pursuit of sourcing 100% of their cotton from more sustainable sources by 2020, C&A has received the Best Starter Award from the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). In the fourth quarter of 2015, C&A purchased roughly 3000 tonnes of BCI cotton, making C&A the fastest starter of the 17 new BCI brands. It also lifts C&A to the top-10 tier of buyers, from among the 62 BCI-member brands.
As the latest official member, C&A has joined the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Circular Economy 100 (CE100) network in accelerating the transition to a circular economy. “We see our membership as an important next step in our commitment towards a circular business model in the apparel industry,” says Jeffrey Hogue, Chief Sustainability Officer at C&A Global. “As a global leader in the fashion industry, we embrace the complex challenges in moving away from the linear ‘make, use and dispose’ economic model to one with resources in continuous flows.”
