Statement on PFAS

Düsseldorf, 30th January 2026 - C&A takes product safety and chemical compliance very seriously. Over our many decades in the fashion retail industry, we have built robust and continuously evolving quality and product safety processes. This includes also chemical management system, aligned with the latest standards and scientific advancements and supported by internationally accredited laboratories. All our products sold in Europe undergo tests for health and safety impacts before reaching our stores.

All products referenced were originally tested by external internationally accredited testing laboratories and the tests reports confirm that the products are fully compliant with all applicable legal requirements.

The findings referenced by Greenpeace are based on a new PFAS testing method, that has been implemented recently in a step-wise approach. C&A already adapted its processes in line with the new testing method and continues to adapt to all ongoing relevant regulatory or scientific evolvements.

We have taken this opportunity to reassess the test results and to re-check toxicological evaluations. These reconfirm our assessment that the referenced products do not pose a risk to consumer safety and all remain fully compliant with all applicable legal requirements. In line with our standard procedures, we have proactively informed the competent authorities reponsible for these European matters in Germany to ensure full transparency regarding our chemical management and testing processes. We continue to monitor and address this topic should new information emerge.

C&A continues to use the latest standards and work with internationally accredited laboratories to ensure our products remain safe, high‑quality, and affordable for our customers.
