C&A offers assistance to people affected by Europe’s floods

  • Great sense of sympathy and willingness to help among employees

  • Care bags with essential clothes distributed to people in Germany’s Ahrtal region

  • Belgium: People in emergency shelters provided with blankets and pillows

Düsseldorf, 20 July 2021 – It was with deepest sympathy that C&A’s employees learned about the dramatic situation caused by floods in parts of Europe last week. During the past few days, C&A staff started several initiatives to help those affected. In Ahrweiler (Germany), C&A employees distributed 3,000 care bags to provide affected people with essential clothes. Workers in Cologne and
Oberhausen prepared the bags containing vests, pants, socks, a T-shirt, long sleeve shirt and trousers.

In Belgium, after reaching out to the Red Cross, C&A employees brought blankets and pillows to emergency shelters that had opened next to affected cities. "Our thoughts are with all of those who lost their loved ones. There are so many people affected by this tragedy," says Eric Brenninkmeijer, Chief Clusters and Countries Officer at C&A Europe. "The willingness to help among our colleagues is impressive. We want to help where we can.”
