Breast Cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among women, it affects 2.3 million women worldwide every year (World Health Organization, 2024). Most women diagnosed with breast cancer are around or after their menopause. Although the degree varies, men, trans people and non-binary people can also be affected. When breast cancer is detected early, the chances of recovery are high.
…to become an ally for people diagnosed with breast cancer
As a European fashion brand, we are committed to helping raise awareness for breast cancer and the importance of self-examination. Through various activations on C&A’s own channels as well as collaborations with influencers and women’s magazines we have been spreading the word - not only during the official breast cancer awareness month in October, but at all times. In line with our values, we are striving to support and empower those on their journey and foster a stronger, more informed community.
To educate and inspire, we are providing our platforms to introduce two remarkable women who were diagnosed with breast cancer and who decided to publicly share their experiences on social media - it even became a part of their own healing journey.
In the following videos, Cristina Inés Gill and Michèle Müller both discuss the misconceptions and stigma attached to breast cancer, reflect on how they keep a positive mind and highlight the importance of self-examination. And they let us know, what everyone can do to become an ally.
Thank you, Cristina and Michèle, for telling your stories!

Acting mindfully and becoming a supporter
As it is the most common cancer among women, it is likely to know someone who is diagnosed with breast cancer – for instance in the family, among colleagues, or in the interaction with customers. We developed a guide on how each and every one at C&A can act mindfully and become a supporter in the everyday and on the shopfloor. And to help people affected by breast cancer look and feel good, we have been offering styling workshops in C&A stores.
The exclusive styling nights in C&A stores all over Europe are all about inspiration and togetherness: In a small group, women affected by breast cancer get to shop in an intimate atmosphere together. Professional stylists and makeup artists, who have worked with breast cancer patients before, help everyone look and feel good.
To actively support women with breast cancer, C&A introduced its first bra for patients after a mastectomy operation in 2021. We have now re-launched the bra committing to further soothe the experience of women in treatment or recovery. The bra comes in two options that meet the specific needs of the skin and body. They are both made of high quality, soft materials. They are comfortable yet give support all day. The two styling variants are non-wired and have inner pockets for medical prosthesis. One variant allows front opening and gives extra comfort with supportive shoulder straps. The other option has brushed shoulder straps and delicate lace detailing. Both types are available in classic black and lavender tint in the C&A online shop and app.
