As a Backend Engineer within C&A’s Data & Analytics team, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and operation of the One C&A Data Platform - the foundation for all enterprise reporting and analytics across the company.

You will work on ingesting, transforming, and modeling data using modern technologies like Snowflake, Ab Initio, and DataVault Builder, enabling reliable, scalable, and high-quality data products for our internal business users. Your work directly supports C&A’s transformation into a data-driven organization, helping teams across Europe unlock insights, improve operations, and drive smarter decision-making.

Your responsibilities

  • Model data using modern paradigms such as 3NF, Data Vault, and Snowflake modeling, ensuring consistency, traceability, and auditability
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable data integration pipelines using ETL/ELT tools such as Ab Initio and Datavault Builder
  • Ingest and transform complex data formats (e.g., JSON, XML, CSV, Parquet) from diverse source systems into a central staging layer
  • Optimize SQL logic and Snowflake queries for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency across large data volumes
  • Contribute to the evolution of our cloud-native data lakehouse and support automation and deployment processes using Git, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies
  • Write clean, testable code and proactively implement unit and integration tests
  • Document architecture, logic, and data flows clearly in Confluence for knowledge sharing and maintainability

What you bring

  • A degree in (Business) Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar, plus 3+ years of experience in data platform engineering
  • Very strong expertise, best 5+ years in the area of Snowflake
  • Deep expertise in SQL development, data warehousing, and data modeling (3NF, Data Vault, Snowflake-specific modeling)
  • Solid experience with ETL tools such as Ab Initio and/or Datavault Builder
  • Hands-on experience with version control (Git), JIRA, and working within agile/scrum teams
  • Strong abstraction and analytical thinking to solve complex integration and modeling challenges
  • Proactive in writing automated tests and thinking in test scenarios before development
  • A structured and consistent approach to documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Good English skills; very good German skills are a strong advantage
  • A collaborative mindset and a team-oriented spirit
