First 3D-Body Scanner at C&A in Hamburg With effect from autumn 2001, C&A has been offering men who appreciate the luxury of made-to-measure clothes, an unique, Germany-wide service: A 3D-Body Scanner has been installed in the Hamburg - Mönckebergstrasse store that provides the basis for virtual made-to-measure clothes in line with the latest technical standards. For the customer, this means made-to-measure clothing that offers an even better fit because it takes exact account of the individual, physical characteristics of the customer: The 3D-Body Scanner reads in the customer’s measurements in three-dimensional form by scanning 2 million measuring points within 10 seconds. Based on this, a virtual 3D double of the customer is created. The personal body scan data thus obtained, is transmitted direct to the production location via data transfer, together with individual criteria on materials, cut and details, selected by the customer on a computer terminal. The goods you have ordered will be ready within 4 weeks.
The 3D-Bodyscan-Project is part of the European "E-Tailor" program, within the scope of which C&A is involved with 16 additional European partners and with the support of the European Commission for the Integration of Trend-Setting Technology in the Textile Industry. |
