Questions to C&A

1. Where does the name C&A come from?
The letters C&A are the initials of the brothers Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer, who founded a textile company with the name C&A in the Netherlands in 1841.

2. What does C&A sell?
Fashion for you and me, for young and old, for every member of the family. We have a huge assortment of the most differing styles in the most varying price categories. Our clothing enables everybody to express themselves exactly as they wish to.

3. How big is C&A?
C&A has over 32,000 employees in the following European countries:
Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Spain, Czech Republic and Russia.

4. Are all products available in every store?
As a fundamental rule, yes. The core assortment is to be found in every store. Naturally, there are differences between large and small stores. In addition, we take account of national and local preferences of our clientele when compiling the range offered.

5. What does the future hold in store for C&A?
We are continuously striving to improve our quality and to create noticeable advantages for you in all areas. In addition, we are constantly testing new ideas, for example in Germany we are currently testing a toy concept under the heading “Kids World”.
Perhaps additional items will follow in the future. One thing is by all means certain: We shall keep you informed.

6. What is the quality philosophy of C&A?
Our aim is to offer you the best fashion (or simply “more fashion”) for your money. In all countries in which we are present, we are amongst the leading companies with a wide range of clothing and accessories.
Our quality awareness is reflected throughout the entire manufacturing process, from the raw materials through to the final product. And, should you ever be less than 100% satisfied with an article purchased from us, we shall replace it: quickly and with no “ifs” and “buts”!

7. What is your position regarding social manufacturing conditions?
C&A  is against child labour and all other forms of exploitation of people and the environment; this includes our suppliers and all other companies involved with us.
For this reason, we have created a code of conduct. Unannounced on-site inspections by the SOCAM company, an independent organisation, implement this “Code of Conduct” worldwide.
In the event of a supplier violating this code of conduct, irrespective of whether during manufacture of goods for C&A or for other customers, we immediately impose contractual penalties.
